What’s the biggest challenge you’ve ever faced while planning an event and how did you overcome it?

The biggest challenge as of now has been all the postponed weddings by the Covid19 pandemic. We are overcoming this by being empathetic with the couples, understanding that their most important date got postponed and we are making sure that their new date will be the best ever.

What are 2 trends in the event planning industry that you’re excited about?

We are not so trend-oriented, as we like the couple to have what they want; not what is trendy. But I do love lots of flowers, and color. Located in Mexico we love color, and of course wedding parades with the mariachis and Benito the donkey – he is a favorite.

What are some tips for creating an elegant and memorable event on a tight budget?

Tell your planner exactly what is important and make compromises on what you want and what you can have, as there are many small, not costly details that can make your wedding really elegant.

If you had unlimited resources, what would your dream client and event look like?

My dream client is one that is in love, wants to have fun, tells me exactly what they want, lets me come up with the best ideas and vendors for their vision, and really enjoys the wedding.

How important are your relationships with vendors and what are some ways that you successfully cultivate and ensure good rapport?

Vendors are the most important as they will deliver what we need for the wedding.

What advice would you give someone who needs to plan a fundraiser but isn’t sure where to start?

Make a business plan even if it is for a fundraiser. You need to know what you will do and where you will get the money. A business plan is always a good idea for everything.

What’s the most exciting thing on the horizon for you personally or professionally?

In business is my team. I have a wonderful team of wedding professionals that can help any couple plan their wedding. They are amazing.

In my personal life, my 2 and soon to be 3 grandchildren – they inspire me to be better – and traveling.

What inspired you to launch your own company in the event industry? How long did it take from initially having the idea to setting up and starting to attract a client base?

My hometown of San Miguel de Allende is romantic, colonial, and beautiful – the perfect destination for weddings.

It took about 5 months to start and about 1 year to have clients. You need to build a portfolio and reputation so clients can trust you.

What’s the first event you can ever remember planning and how did it go?

My first event was a lunch for a local dairy. I was so nervous that I left the keys inside the car and I was frantic, but the event was wonderful, the food great, and they hired us again!!

What are some things you wished you knew before starting your businesses?

Oh, so many – the long nights, the stress, making sure it is all perfect. But, at the end of the day, this is what we like and why we plan weddings.

What’s the most surprising or unusual request you have ever received from a client and were you able to fulfill it?

No, I was not able – she wanted 100 birds to fly as she was walking down the aisle!!! Of course, it was not possible.

Anything else you’d like to comment on while we have you?

First, thank you for the opportunity.  Being able to plan weddings is amazing because you will always be a part of their life story!!!
