If you had unlimited resources, what would your dream client and event look like?
It's the age-old question - if you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? Event profs share their dreams.

They would trust us and trust our process!

Luckily, I have a lot of awesome clients! If I could mesh all of the amazing clients I have had together and create a dream client, I would say they had the following attributes:

1.) They would trust us and trust our process! We curate a vendor team for each client based on their style, fit and budget so they can choose from a select set of vendors that we trust and know will produce the event of their dreams based on their specific vision!

2.) Open to new ideas, suggestions and doing things juuuust a little bit differently to make it highly personalized and have an emphasis on decor.

3.) They respect the offerings of a quality vendor team and would appreciate (and expect) good service and good quality.

4.) Guest experience from start to finish would be important. From the perfect invitation that sets the tone of an event to proper transportation, event lighting that wows to exceptional food service, and all-out entertainment to round out the event. They want to be the ultimate hosts of an event that has all the touches and a fully thought out atmosphere!

With unlimited resources, I'd love to coordinate an exclusive party possibly around the ESPYs or some type of event involving sports (Olympics, Super Bowl, etc.).

I’ve always loved sports and outside of event planning, I really wanted to be a sports broadcaster and be the first African-American woman on ESPN’s College Gameday, but alas it is very clear the role was made for Maria Taylor! However, I’d still love to incorporate my love of sports and merge it with my love for events.

With unlimited resources, I’d love to coordinate an exclusive party possibly around the ESPYs or some type of event involving sports (Olympics, Super Bowl, etc.). I like more intimate settings rather than a huge, packed experience where everyone feels like a sardine packed in a cacophony of noise and strobe lights. I’d like an elevated event with multiple levels to cater to the taste of each attendee. I’m thinking I’d book a whole building/castle/mansion and each level will have something special for each person. There’s a lounge area with music spun by ?uestlove to welcome guests and that will always be the go-to room throughout the evening.

Most importantly, there will be lots of food and the food would be made by some of the top chefs like Gordon Ramsey, Arron Sanchez, Grant Achatz, Alex Guarnaschelli and Duff Goldman on the treats. I’m thinking each chef can make one (respective) course for the dinner portion of the evening.

Following the dinner, it will just be a once in a lifetime party back to the lounge area with great music, experiential activities with VR/A.I., some visually stunning pieces with floral, lights and the beauty of nature.

I would just love to create one-of-a-kind and exclusive experiences for my clients. I love it when people walk away from an event knowing that it was not commonplace and that it was truly unique and meticulously planned.

Our dream client/s would be The Royals, both The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - and - The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

We often fantasize about having infinite funds and complete creative freedom to design exquisite event experiences.

Our dream client/s would be The Royals, both The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – and – The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

With The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Sussex Royal: The Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, both are unique and separate charities providing a timely, strategic focus and philanthropy to today’s world issues. Both thoughtfully attuned and aligned to raising awareness, each charitable event experience would be unique, purposefully designed, respectfully crafted and allow for maximum exposure to specific charitable issues.

While no event would look the same, an imprint of elegance, inspired education, and sincere intention would be established for a complimentary, signature Foundation’s brand identity.

I would love to host a Sweet Saturday Fundraising Gala to fund and support De L’or Cakery Kitchen...a subsidiary apprenticeship program of De L’or Cakery supporting teenage youth in foster care and from under-resourced communities to learn Sugar Artistry.

I would love to host a Sweet Saturday Fundraising Gala to fund and support De L’or Cakery Kitchen. This program is a subsidiary apprenticeship program of De L’or Cakery supporting teenage youth in foster care and from under-resourced communities to learn Sugar Artistry.

The goal is to influence youth interested in the Food Industry to seek out post-secondary education. There are over 25,000 youth in the New York City foster care system:

• 6% will earn a 2- or 4-year degree by the age of 24
• 59% of kids enter due to neglect
• 22% of kids will age out of foster care ages 12 and older
• 15% of aged out youth become homeless with little to no educational pursuits

The participants of the apprenticeship program would study under me at no cost to them. The goal is to partner with foster care programs and under-resourced schools to refer youth to our program. I envision a host of Food Network, Cooking Channel, and PBS cooking beneficiaries and attendees enjoying my desserts and supporting this fundraiser. My dream clients Melissa Viviane Jefferson and Kim Zolciak would definitely be in the house co-hosting with me.

We would love to have a pop-up dinner in a beautiful organic and vegan vineyard with one long farm table showcasing sustainable and edible centerpieces. We would offer a six-course organic plant-based dinner menu with a wine or spirit pairing, created by co-Founder and executive chef Hope Bailey. The farm table would be lined with our vegan friends and clients that believe in beautiful food and taking care of our planet.

I've always wanted to have a Count of Monte Cristo type event.

I’ve always wanted to have a Count of Monte Cristo type event. It’s an outdoor party with huge spheres that serve as lights. All of the staff would be in a vintage Victorian style costume to welcome guests as they arrive. I would have guests arrive via yachts or horse-drawn carriages.

The host of the party arrives in a mini hot air balloon and the guests go crazy. Entertainers from fire breathers to stilt/tight rope walkers would surround tables as guests ate. Some of the world’s top chefs would be there at action stations creating signature dishes.

I would have various sitting areas to ensure guests are able to relax and roam around versus being stuck at a reception table.

We would have amazing performances by leading artists so that we would dance into the night. Just before we thought it was over, a fireworks experience would take place to close out the events.

I want it to be beautifully rich, with textured ceiling drapes and engaging interactive entertainment with a living Zoltar machine, aerial champagne pours, fortune tellers, to start.

I’m an in-house planner so I don’t have clients. However, I’m currently working on what could be a dream event in San Francisco for the spring. We are working to rebuild our brain donation fund and are going to do it in Menlo Park. I had to figure out how to attract people to an event around the topic of essentially organ donation, reimbursement for it, and the benefits of brain research. I want people to come because they want to be there not because they felt obligated to because an event committee member asked them to be there.

I decided to craft a fundraising cocktail reception around the intersection of neuroscience, technology, and illusion with a cirque theme since it’s in Silicon Valley. We’re going to bring in an illusionist to talk about how technology tricks the brain into thinking things may not be what they seem. This magician will use tech in the room and some they bring to demonstrate this concept.

If I get the proper funding for it – I want it to be beautifully rich, with textured ceiling drapes and engaging interactive entertainment with a living Zoltar machine, aerial champagne pours, fortune tellers, to start. I want the food to look like other food to add to the illusion element and drinks that are smoky and have layers of viscous liquid to look slightly like science experiments. With any luck, we’ll have great auction items and donors to back the underwriting costs for all of this.

An outdoor venue filled with farm tables and floral garlands draping the tables.

A client is completely open to design as a bit off the ordinary in a beautiful, elegant way. An outdoor venue filled with farm tables and floral garlands draping the tables. Candles of all shapes and sizes glowing. Cocktail tables with soft flowing linens. Oversized decor elements surrounding the venue and beautiful lounge seating creating a comfortable place for guests to be treated to a truly stunning evening. I have found that the more natural elements we use in design bring a soft airy and romantic mood for the guests.

I’d have to say a multi-day wedding celebration in India for a well-to-do international couple.

What a great question! I’d have to say a multi-day wedding celebration in India for a well-to-do international couple. Full disclosure: this very well might be because I just got invited to a friend’s wedding in India and it’s on my mind. Regardless, I love the idea of planning weddings that require international travel. I’m a bit obsessed with traveling so combining work with my passion for travel would be ideal.

If I had to pick it would absolutely be the biggest Halloween party.

Having a client with unlimited resources would definitely be a dream. I think that when you have wide range and access to things the possibilities are limitless. If I had to pick it would absolutely be the biggest Halloween party. I would try to find an Adams Family house type venue in a real cemetery. It would just be totally insane!

A dream client and event is someone who trusts your expertise and gives us full creative freedom on all aspects of the event.

A dream client and event is someone who trusts your expertise and gives us full creative freedom on all aspects of the event. We love doing destination events so I have to say, a three-day destination event somewhere in Europe would be our preferred event of choice. Doing an event overseas comes with a handful of challenges, but it’s a change we always welcome with open arms. It’s an opportunity for us to really take our client’s breath away while helping with something that for them, could easily be stressful.  We must always schedule an initial client meeting where we learn more about the style and preferences of the client, and how to best reflect who they are and what they would like to achieve after which in a perfect world, we would do our job and client would show up on the event day seeing their vision come to life. Trust is key when it comes to creating something amazing, and the more freedom our team has to express their creativity, the better the event turns out.

My clients are actually my dream clients and figuring out how to make their perfect day come true is everything to me.

This to me is a trick question. 🙂 My clients that have unlimited resources have much different worries so the stress is different. My clients are actually my dream clients and figuring out how to make their perfect day come true is everything to me. I didn’t get into this business because it was a way to make money or because it came with a status. I do this because I love everything that is involved with planning an event.

So unlimited resources … eh … Dream Client – anyone that is wanting to share their joy with their friends and family.

Honestly, I love working with a couple that is laid back, fun to be around and wants a life together long after the wedding day.

Honestly, I love working with a couple that is laid back, fun to be around and wants a life together long after the wedding day. Not someone who is so focused on “out doing” their friend’s wedding. If money were no object, it would make the decisions a lot easier but the personality of the couple is more important (for me).

My dream client is a client that knows what they want but are still flexible in their vision. Someone who wants to work together to create something new, exciting, and a really fun night!

My dream event changes with each client! I truly get the most enjoyment out of finding what the client wants, sourcing the right team to make it happen, and bringing it to fruition. I come alive on event days as I begin to watch the guests experience what we have been planning for months or over a year! This “job” really has never felt like a job at all. I enjoy what I do and have loved being a part of people’s most exciting days!

A party with unlimited resources would consist of themed details from start to finish.

I adore incorporating the party theme in every aspect of the party. This, of course, can get pricy. A party with unlimited resources would consist of themed details from start to finish. When guests arrive they would be greeted with a themed welcome drink served by a staff member in costume to match the theme. As guests leave they would be gifted a themed custom party favor. Food, entertainment, venue, cake, music…it would all be perfectly matched to the theme.

I’ve been lucky enough to have worked with clients who also share this view of incorporating themed details throughout the entire party. I’ve gotten to plan a science-themed party at The Museum of Science & Industry, have a Mariachi band at a Day Of The Dead party, and bring a petting zoo to a county fair themed party.
