What do you love most about Fall weddings?

Our favorite part about Fall weddings is the most simple of all: the sunset.

Beautiful weddings come in all shapes, colors and sizes, but there’s something magical about a Fall wedding. The crispness in the air, the colors in the leaves… it’s hard not to be excited.
Fall weddings open the doors to non-traditional wedding colors in the decor. Instead of blush and white, fall brides often opt for jewel tones, incorporate bronze and copper shades, or even select dustier shades of blues and pinks for a little bit of drama. We love working these moodier colors into the color palette with bridesmaids dresses, linens, and even their floral.
The change of colors isn’t the only thing we like to change up in the Fall; we also love incorporating textures that might feel out of place in Spring or Summer. Velvet table linens or bridesmaids dresses add depth and warmth for a cozy feeling. Interesting texture in the table arrangements and floral can also give a nod to the season and add interest; using Fall apples or berries tucked subtly into arrangements can add a touch of whimsy in a seasonally appropriate way. Dried floral, ferns and grasses can add light and airy movement and dimension in the Fall for a unique twist.

The tables don’t have to be the only things that get dressed up for the season; we love when our couples embrace the cooler weather with delicate sleeves on the dresses or fabulous wraps and fur accessories. Pheasant feathers worked into bowties or boutonnieres, or velvet smoking slippers instead of traditional tux shoes can have the men looking just as dapper.
However, our favorite favorite part about Fall weddings is the most simple of all: the sunset. We can take advantage of earlier sunset times to play up candle work on your table to create a romantic atmosphere. The ambiance in person is always amplified by thoughtfully placed candles, and it doesn’t hurt that the photos look spectacular too. This creates a celebratory mood for your guests and you’ll find people are ready to start dancing and enjoying the party earlier than they may when it is still light outside.
It's the opportunity for the attire to steal the show by adding in a little flair to the traditional wedding attire.
What I love most about fall weddings is the weather, the crisp smell in the air and you can get a really good fire going in an outdoor fireplace. With fall weather comes the use of the deeper hues in the color palette, Emerald, Terracotta, Indigo, just to name a few.
And lastly the attire, pashminas, fur wraps, etc., it’s the opportunity for the attire to steal the show by adding in a little flair to the traditional wedding attire.
Fall in love with color. Color your Fall with love!

With preferred partnerships with local purveyors of fine chocolate and sweets, we frequently challenge our artisans to create bespoke elements and offerings that are certain to awe and delight.
To end a recent glamping-inspired evening, our custom chocolate campfires, paired with organic raspberry and mango sorbets, were scrumptiously unique!

So, as autumn begins, we take inspiration from Andrea Gibson in that, “the leaves are all falling, and they’re falling like they’re falling in love with the ground.”

What pops into our mind when fall is upon us is the warmth of autumn-inspired comfort foods.
What pops into our mind when fall is upon us is the warmth of autumn-inspired comfort foods. These are some of our favorite menus to put together for weddings and events.

Hearty meats served with gravy, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and casserole bakes are all popular items we see every season.
We like to offer some more unexpected options as well, like soup or chilli stations complete with toppings like shredded cheese, chopped onions and croutons. It is a great time to showcase what foods are in season for your guests such as squash, sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts.

Some of the most delectable desserts are ones served most during this time of year including muffins, pumpkin pie and apple crumble. These options not only taste good, but they add to the ambiance of any affair and get people excited to celebrate the moment.
Fall weddings mean we get to create designs with something besides blush and white!

Color palettes often go darker and moodier once we step into this time of the year, but we also see an influx of jewel tones as well. My favorite fall combination is peach and plum.

What I love the most about fall weddings are the deeper colors, cozy blankets and the inclusion of local produce in wedding themes.

Fall weddings let you embrace the colors of the season.

Fall is so popular, it's not uncommon for people to get married Friday, Saturday and Sundays in the fall.

Here in Minnesota, it’s the most popular time to get married. The leaves start to turn colors and we have so many beautiful outdoor or country venues here. It’s a real treat for guests to be in some stunning locations getting to celebrate with their friends.
From a logistics point of view the weather is also a little more predictable than our springs here. In early May there’s always the crazy chance we could have a random snow storm! So fall is favored over spring for weddings.

With fall weather being wholeheartedly unpredictable, many brides opt for a classic cape to drape over their shoulders.

This can work as an extra layer of fabric for warmth on a chilly day or simply an accent when it is sunny outside. I find this look to be unexpected while making a statement.
Whether a bride chooses sheer fabric or mikado satin which is more in line with fall, embellishments such as lace, pearls and tulle can add to the dramatic effect as well for personalization of style. Couture by Tess Bridal boutique stocks many cape options and has always been one of our team’s favorite bridal fashion adornments.
