Tanya Sak Event Producer & Wedding Planner

Location: Mexico City

I started 15 years ago helping my BFF plan her wedding while she was studying her masters in China. I was her eyes and hands here in Mexico and helping her, I realized I was born to do this – I had learned my real passion in life. And I’ve never stopped since…

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve ever faced while planning an event and how did you overcome it?

Planning VIP Events….it takes a lot of extra work and security, but it’s totally worth it.

I have produced a lot of events for VIP people in my country, which gave me a lot of extra skills as a Producer to do massive events with lots of requirements that need more details than the average event does. That took me to do an event for the Government and its Tourism, 2 years ago, that was a very important experience in my career.

What are 2 trends in the event planning industry that you’re excited about?

  • Mexican Chic Trend
  • Boho Chic in Beach Weddings

How important are your relationships with vendors and what are some ways that you successfully cultivate and ensure good rapport?

The most important part of my work are my vendors and my relationship with them. I have to be able to trust them because my work totally relies on a team effort.

What inspired you to launch your own company in the event industry? How long did it take from initially having the idea to setting up and starting to attract a client base?

I literally started to plan my first wedding as a job in May and it was done on July 1st, but I think if I didn’t do it like that, maybe I wouldn’t have done it…..and I haven’t stopped since…

What’s the first event you can ever remember planning and how did it go?

The wedding of a very important soccer player in my country. The President of the country was invited and I was very nervous, but everything turned out great and it helped me launch my career.

What are some things you wished you knew before starting your business?

I wish I had a lot more knowledge of administration skills and had written up a contract since day one…had to find out in a bad way.

What’s the most surprising or unusual request you have ever received from a client and were you able to fulfill it?

Butterflies Flying away at the end of the ceremony on a 105º day.

Anything else you’d like to comment on while we have you?

I love my job and I can’t wait to get back to it!!!! I really miss the rush…
